2024 Summer 7s Rugby Season

VYI offers rugby for boys and girls from ages U6 to 18U.

(Kindergarten through High School)

We have two seasons, Spring and Summer.

Summer practices begin in May

Spring tackle practices begin in January.

Spring Tag practices begin in March.

May 18: Rugby VA publishes league summer schedule

May 20: Summer 7s practices begin

June 8: Summer season begins

July 6: No games

July 20: Summer Championships Tournament, Culpeper Sportsplex

Age Brackets

TAG Rugby - U8, U10 & U12 (Coed)
YTH Tackle Rugby - U12 (Coed)
MS Tackle Rugby - U14 (Coed)*
HS Tackle Rugby - U16 & 18U (Separate Boys and Girls Teams)**

* U14 Girls have the option to practice with HS Girls.

**Vienna High School Girls and Boys are both nationally ranked. Vienna High School Boys are the 2023 Boys High School Nationals Rugby Tournament Tier 2 Champions and the Spring and Summer 2023 Virginia State Champions.

Practice Information:

Winter practice field – Usually, Waters Field or James Madison HS, or Marshall HS
Spring practice field – Usually Thoreau MS
Home games - Various - Usually James Madison HS, Oakton HS, Nottoway Park, or Marshall HS
Away games - locations vary
Practices are held 6-8pm or 6 - 7:15 for Tag level teams.
Practices days are usually Tues & Thurs, but are subject to field availability.
