Fall registration information for those entering grades K-8th in the Fall.

Registration is opens in May and closes in July each year (unless we are full for a grade - whichever is first.) If we have space available we can add in August but a late fee will apply.

$35 early bird discount for May registration, August registration will have a $35 late fee

Cheerleading is a TEAM sport! Like any other team sport, your athlete is required to be on time to all practices and games.  Our squads practice ONE night a week, and they cheer at one game on the weekend.  The tackle season is mid-August through mid-November (depending on playoff schedules for VYI Football). Flag season (typically K/1) is mid-August through the end of October.

• Included in program cost:
  • Practice Pack - cinch bag, T-shirt and shorts (practice uniform), water bottle
  • Squad game bow and socks
• Squads will be 12-20 athletes and will cheer for at least one football division (could be smaller depending on the number of head coaches we get this season - please consider volunteering if possible).
• Squads are grouped by grade - grade distribution depends on registration each year. 
• Flag teams will be for K/1 participants. Participants in 1st grade with experience in VYI or all star may be placed on a tackle team if there is room.
• Games are typically at Waters Field in Vienna on Saturdays. Occasionally games are Fridays and Sundays. We will travel if needed around the northern virginia area for games (including Manassas, Alexandria, and Leesburg) but will prioritize games in Vienna and close to Vienna.
• Additional items are required to complete the uniform (suggested items in links):

  • black briefs, boy cut is popular (worn under skirt - https://www.omnicheer.com/shop/body-basics/cheerleading-briefs/chasse-boy-cut-brief_8430). Any shorts work as long as they can't be seen when the skirt is on. Nike pros, any tumble shorts, spandex gymnastic shorts, etc. would work.

  • solid black, full-length, leggings
  • all-white outdoor cheer shoes (https://www.omnicheer.com/shop/cheerleading-shoes)
  • clear rain jacket or poncho - used for rain games (we cheer in rain!)
• Squads will be formed by early-August. Cheer weekly practices will start the first week of FCPS.
• Please be sure you are familiar with the VYI Refund Policy.
• Also, be aware our age/grade range is strictly enforced. Siblings might not be on the same squad.
• We will do our best to accommodate special requests, but we cannot guarantee they will be fulfilled.
• Please consider signing up as early as possible so we can start to form teams and order shirts/shorts for practice outfits. Once you register you will have 5 business days to complete payment otherwise the registration will be removed. Sizes can not be guaranteed if registration occurs after June 1.

VYI Cheer is seeking volunteer head, assistant, and junior coaches (high school age) for our Fall Cheer programs - the more coaches we have the smaller we can make our squads this year. No experience is required! Please email us for more information.
